Meat & Bone Meal

Meat & bone meal is a by-product of the rendering industry. Carcass trimmings, condemned carcasses, condemned livers, inedible offal (lungs) and bones are the composition to make the slaughterhouse wastes. The product was produced by crushing the dried mammalian tissue without including blood, hair, hoof, horn, hide trimmings, stomach, and rumen.

MBM contains good sources of protein, energy, calcium, and phosphorus. MBM has a light brown color with tiny white bone chips and a powdery texture. The product is mainly used as a supplement to mono-gastric animals as a partial supply of protein, but limited use in ruminant and horse diets.
